The Jean-Pierre Bady Library and Documentation Centre houses a comprehensive collection of reference materials in the field of the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage.
Une institution, deux services documentaires
The collections cover the history and techniques of the arts, the materials used in heritage objects, the sciences of conservation and restoration, practices and methodology relating to professional ethics, law, acquisition, conservation, management and the dissemination of heritage, as well as the management of cultural institutions, not to mention the current challenges facing heritage professionals.
Supporting the teaching activities of both departments, the library located in the Restorers’ Department (Aubervilliers) and the Jean-Pierre-Bady Documentary Resource Centre, located in the Curators’ Department (Paris), also manage the dissertations of student restorers, study and restoration reports from the workshops and laboratory, photographic documentation of objects studied and restored at the INP, as well as the teaching materials for the practical and continuing professional development courses run by the Curators’ Department.
The archive collection of Gilberte Emile-Mâle (1912–2008), a leading figure in the field of conservation in France, is available for consultation at the library.
The examination papers for the curators’ competitive examination can be consulted by appointment at the documentation resource centre.
