To mark the fiftieth anniversary of the French archaeological mission in Libya led by Vincent Michel, a high-level Libyan delegation, headed by the Director of the Department of Antiquities, Dr Mohamed Fallos, visited the INP on 11 May 2026, accompanied by representatives from the French Institute in Libya and the Libyan Embassy in France.
During the visit, the delegation held talks with the INP’s management to outline the main challenges facing the Libyan authorities in the management, conservation and promotion of their archaeological sites and museums. Discussions also focused on prospects for future cooperation, particularly in the areas of scientific expertise, training and capacity-building, with representatives from the Louvre Museum’s museum partnerships department and INRAP’s international affairs department, who were also present during the visit.
2022 : Organisation of a one-month training programme for Libyan heritage professionals on the main principles of art management.
